What is mobile physical therapy?
Mobile physical therapy means I come directly to your home, work, gym, or where you would like to have your session. I bring all the equipment needed. This eliminates the stress and time involved in spending time in traffic, arranging childcare, time spent in a waiting room. Life is busy, let’s make this as convenient for you as we can. You receive one‑on‑one, uninterrupted care in your own environment, allowing for more personalized assessment and progressions, better carryover into daily life, and an effective treatment model for achieving your success.
What are the benefits of cash based Physical Therapy?
Higher‑quality care — Sessions are one‑on‑one with Dr. Charlene, uninterrupted, and fully focused on your goals.
No rushed appointments — You get the full session with Dr. Charlene, not a fraction of it while the rest is handed off to aides or techs.
No insurance limitations — Treatment isn’t dictated by what insurance will “approve” or reimburse for. You receive the care you actually need, not the care insurance forces clinics to decide on.
More effective treatment — Without productivity quotas or billing restrictions, treatment can include individualized treatment techniques specific to you for real progress.
Transparent pricing — You know exactly what you’re paying upfront. No surprise bills months later.
Often lower total cost — Many clients can end up paying less out‑of‑pocket compared to copays, deductibles, and unexpected insurance charges. For example if you have a $75 copay, and are scheduled 3x/week, that is already $225/week. Plus the time and money involved in your taking time off of work and commuting to your visits. If your clinic is 25 minutes away for example, that is 2.5 hours of driving you would have to spend in one week, not including Austin traffic.
Direct access to your therapist — You communicate directly with me for the duration of your care, and for any needs that may come up in the future! I am happy to be an ongoing resource.
Freedom to treat the whole body — Care can address all contributing factors—pelvic health, core, pain, gait, strength, mobility—without needing separate referrals or billing codes.
Better long‑term outcomes — Consistent, individualized care has been shown to lead to faster progress and fewer total visits.

How soon after birth can I start?
Virtual wellness sessions can begin 1-2 weeks postpartum and have been medically cleared for normal recovery at home.
Why are you a cash‑based practice?
After more than eight years working in insurance‑based orthopedic clinics, I saw firsthand how the quality of care continues to be cut by declining reimbursement from insurances. That ultimately increases productivity demands for therapists; which means treating a higher volume of people in less time, and more pressure to prioritize completing documentation and billing tasks that insurance requires. This directly takes away from quality patient care. In the past, I had experiences being booked with so many patients at once that I hardly even saw some of my own clients during their entire session. Their treatment relied on heavy utilization of PT Techs, who would direct patients through exercises. I was limited in how I could treat and how involved I could be with a patient during a visit. This is not the model that allows treatment that would truly benefit you.
Choosing a cash‑based model allows me to provide the treatment that you deserve; one‑on‑one, uninterrupted, high‑quality treatment focused entirely on your recovery, performance, and postpartum running goals—without insurance companies choosing what care you get or don’t get.
Do you take insurance?
I am not in the network with any insurance. I am purely cash based. Payment is made at the time of service. However, I can provide you with a Superbill which you may submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement through out‑of‑network benefits or use HSA/FSA funds. I can provide a detailed invoice upon request.
What conditions do you treat?
I treat a wide range of orthopedic and movement‑related conditions using a whole‑body approach that looks beyond isolated symptoms. I specialize in postpartum running rehabilitation and treat a wide range of movement‑related concerns, including core weakness and dysfunction, diastasis recti, hip or low‑back pain, C‑section or birth‑related scar discomfort, gait changes, and difficulty returning to higher‑level activities like running, lifting, or impact training.
What does a typical mobile PT session include?
Every session is fully individualized to your condition, goals, and the specific demands of your daily life and activities. Treatment incorporates hands‑on care with active movement retraining so you can build a strong, coordinated foundation that supports long‑term progress. I am experienced in a wide range of manual therapy techniques—including soft‑tissue mobilization, scar mobilization, myofascial release, joint mobilizations, effleurage, and trigger point dry needling— which are useful to reduce pain, improve mobility, and optimize tissue healing. Throughout each session, I provide direct, active feedback to help you engage the right muscles, refine movement patterns, and improve form and technique. I want to teach you confidence in your body and movement. I offer a whole‑body approach that supports women in pregnancy or postpartum, but also all orthopedic conditions. Ultimately, every part of your session is designed to help you move better, feel stronger, reduce pain, and get back to exactly what you love doing.
Do you offer virtual sessions?
Yes. Virtual physical therapy and wellness sessions are available for clients who prefer remote care or live outside my Austin, TX mobile service area. Virtual sessions focus on movement assessment, exercise progression, pelvic floor and core retraining, running mechanics coaching, and wellness guidance tailored to your goals.
Is virtual PT effective?
Virtual physical therapy is highly effective because movement, strength, coordination, and pain patterns can be evaluated through observation and on-going dialogue during your visit. Dr. Charlene is an expert in the body movement system and highly skilled in observation of movement patterns and deficits that may be involved and how to improve those, without needing hands‑on contact. Through video, you are observed at the same level of detail as done in person. You receive real‑time coaching, precise cueing, and individualized exercise progressions that build a strong, stable foundation for long‑term improvement. With expert guidance, accountability, and a whole‑body approach, virtual PT is a powerful and convenient way to reduce pain, improve performance, and get back to exactly what you love doing.

What happens during my first visit?
Physical therapy will involve a detailed assessment of your movement and muscle functions.
How many visits will I need?
The number of visits depends on your goals, symptoms, and how your body responds to treatment. Many postpartum runners begin noticing improvements within 1-3 sessions, while others prefer ongoing performance‑based support as they increase mileage, speed, or intensity.
Do I need a referral?
No referral is required. Texas allows direct access to physical therapy, meaning you can begin treatment without seeing a physician first.
What should I wear for sessions?
Wear comfortable athletic clothing that allows you to move freely.
Do you work with clients who aren’t postpartum?
Yes. While my specialty is postpartum running rehabilitation, I also work with runners, active individuals, and individuals seeking movement‑based physical therapy or wellness support.
What areas do you serve for PT?
I provide mobile and virtual physical therapy throughout the Austin area. If you’re outside the service radius, virtual sessions are available.
